I’m Al Scott, a Motion Designer with a BFA in Illustration from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. My journey began in traditional illustration, but I quickly discovered my passion for motion design, where I blend storytelling with dynamic visuals to create engaging, narrative-driven content.
After graduation, I interned at Turner Broadcasting, working with the [adult swim] Digital team. My focus during the internship was live production, where I gained hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of real-time media, which helped shape my approach to motion design. Following my time at [adult swim], I freelanced with clients like the Detroit Lions, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company, working on everything from motion design and storyboarding to illustration and video editing.
For six seasons, I worked with the Detroit Red Wings, eventually being promoted to Senior Motion Designer after three years. In this role, I produced and oversaw in-venue entertainment, opening shows, media day shoots, and animated content for the Detroit Tigers, Little Caesars Arena, 313 Presents, and more. My work often involved collaborating across different formats and digital displays, balancing creativity with technical precision to deliver high-impact visuals.
I’m also a proud member of Boxfort Detroit, an animation collective based in downtown Detroit. Being part of Boxfort allows me to stay connected with the vibrant Detroit creative community and constantly evolve as an artist.
Outside of design, I’m a huge Detroit Lions fan, a film buff, and a pop culture enthusiast. These personal interests fuel my creativity and often inspire my work, from drawing influence from film and television to the energy of live sports.
